Course Information (Domestic)

Domestic Students Only

The courses on this page are for domestic students only. If you are an international student please see our courses for international students.

International College of Advanced Education has been providing quality hospitality education in Darwin since 1997. In July 2016 ICAE moved into its expanded campus on Chapman Rd, Rapid Creek, where we are now delivering our range of hospitality programs for domestic and international students. With a suite of classrooms, industry-grade hospitality demonstration facilities, and a new purpose-built training kitchen, participants undertaking traineeships, apprenticeships and other programs now attend classes with their peers on scheduled days.

Participants have access to free wi-fi, teacher support, and the many benefits of networking with other industry professionals undertaking professional development programs. Participants and their employers will also benefit from a training plan that will see them complete their qualification in six to nine months, depending on the course.

Employers and participants can roster with confidence around set class times each week or fortnight, working towards a fixed completion date. Students attend class for four hours per week or per fortnight, on a Monday or Tuesday, from 10.45am – 2.45pm. ICAE will continue to conduct practical observations in the workplace and provide any skills-gap training required, at times when staff are rostered on to work.

Commercial Cookery

If you are interested in becoming a chef or cook then a Commercial Cookery apprenticeship is for you. A Cookery apprenticeship will take you through the basics of working in a kitchen through to cooking full meals and planning menus. As chefs are in high demand globally there are many employment opportunities available once you have completed your apprenticeship, both in Australia and around the world.

Hospitality

Hospitality traineeships offer students the chance to work at the front of hospitality enterprises such as bars, restaurants, hotels and casinos, dealing with customers face-to-face on a regular basis. During your hospitality traineeship you will learn the basics of the hospitality industry, practical skills such as cocktail making and hotel reservations and reinforce these skills in a real workplace environment.
