A great city, without the hassle

​As Darwin is the capital city of the Northern Territory it offers a modern metropolitan living environment with all the facilities of any major city in the world.

However, its smaller size means you don’t get the overcrowding, pollution or traffic problems of other larger cities.

Darwin is a sportsperson’s paradise with an international sporting facility and sports clubs playing host to just about every sport imaginable. Golfing and fishing are also extremely popular in Darwin and the region boasts some of the best Barramundi fishing in the world.

Jobs and Employment

Darwin consistently has one of the highest employment rates in Australia making it one of the best places in Australia to find a job.

ICAE’s international program allows students to work full-time for more than half of the course (see Industry Placement) and ​ICAE’s student support team assists students in finding work.

A Tropical Lifestyle

​Many people come to Darwin just to experience the laid-back, tropical lifestyle. Our climate is predictable and the warm weather means there is a wide range of outdoor activities available for students and locals including hiking, camping, fishing, mountain biking or just relaxing at the beach.

Travel

Affectionately known as Australia’s gateway to Asia, Darwin provides a wide range of travel opportunities to Asia and beyond. Darwin International Airport is serviced by domestic and international airlines, and regional travel is made easy via an extensive bus and train network.

Accommodation

As part of the Orientation week activities, ICAE assists students to find long term accommodation. Most students prefer to live in shared accommodation to save money but there is a range of options for accommodation in Darwin, from homestays to private houses in the suburbs.

As the Northern Territory’s capital city, Darwin boasts top-class restaurants and the fresh local produce means you can always find a great steak, a hot curry, vegetarian specials or fresh tropical smoothies.  If you are after a drink, you will always find a great Aussie pub to get a schooner and the nightlife varies from nightclubs to Irish pubs to loungy cocktail bars.
