If you are thinking of starting your own business, or entering the corporate world where you’ll be making commercial decisions in a business environment, ICAE’s Certificate IV in Business is a great place to learn the fundamentals. You’ll learn about what is required in a role of an administrator or project officer in the fast-paced world of private enterprise, and how to put together and evaluate business cases. Specifically, you’ll be developing skills in:
  • Developing, implementing and monitoring workplace health and safety practices, policies, procedures and programs to ensure that your workplace meets its workplace health and safety legislative requirements
  • Successfully promoting products and services to ensure your organisation can meet sales targets
  • Successfully undertaking a range of marketing activities, to attract customers to your business
  • Undertaking project work to ensure that your business achieves its KPIs and business milestones
  • Implementing customer service standards, to ensure you meet or exceed customer expectations, and make every customer a repeat customer
  • Addressing customer needs, so that your customers become salespeople for your business
  • Managing finances within a budget, so that your department, or the entire business, operates within its budgetary parameters
  • Leading and managing people, so that your team meets the targets you, or others, have set
  • Monitoring work operations to ensure that your operation achieves its goals

This qualification is suited to those who are working, or wish to gain employment as administrators and project officers. In these roles, individuals use well-developed skills and a broad knowledge base to apply solutions to a defined range of unpredictable problems and analyse information from a variety of sources. They may provide leadership and guidance to others with some limited responsibility for the output of others.

All students enrolled in the Certificate IV in Business qualification must undertake the Core Unit, plus the nine electives as prescribed by ICAE (see Unit List ). Certificate IV in Business is a prerequisite for entry into ICAE’s Diploma of Business.

Possible job titles for graduates of the Certificate IV in Business include

  • Project officer/manager
