The Myriad Group has been delivering New Apprenticeship Training since 1998 and now offers Group Training services to employers and apprentices in the Northern Territory.
Myriad Group Training is an independent, not-for-profit organisation. Myriad Group Training has experienced and professional staff committed to providing quality service for your training and employment needs, and the needs of your business.

What Is Myriad Group Training?

Myriad Group Training is an employment and training arrangement whereby Myriad Group Training employ apprentices and trainees and place them with “Host Employers”.
Myriad Group Training is the common law employer, with the same responsibilities and obligations under existing legislation and industrial arrangements as other employers. Myriad Group Training also ensure that the apprentice or trainee receives continuous employment and the full range of “on the job” and “off the job training”.

Apprentices and Trainees employed by Myriad Group Training may spend their entire apprenticeship or traineeship with one Host Employer who can offer them a well rounded training experience. Alternatively, they may be rotated through a number of Employers who can each offer a specialised area of training. Host Employers pay a small administration cost to Myriad Group Training.

Myriad Group Training Goals

  • Create additional employment opportunities for apprentices and trainees
  • Assist apprentices and trainees to make a successful transition into the skilled workforce
  • Improve the quality and range of training available to apprentices and trainees, especially those in small and medium business
  • Rotate apprentices and trainees amongst Host Employers, where appropriate, to ensure the quality and range of training experiences
  • Provide access to apprenticeships and traineeships to those disadvantaged in the labour market
  • Provide services to the community contributing to the growth of employment through Vocational Education and Training

Information for Employers

Education is an important strategy as part of achieving economic sustainability in business. Vocational Education and Training (VET) is “education and training for work”, and using a Registered Training Organisation to deliver nationally recognised training can play an important role in the sustainability strategy for your business.

Staff recruitment is a critical activity for most businesses. Myriad Group Training provides a cost efficient and administratively simple way for large and small employers to hire New Apprentices. Myriad Group Training also creates quality employment and training opportunities for existing staff who may already be employed in other capacities.

Myriad Group Training is particularly useful for small and medium sized businesses that would benefit from employing an apprentice, but find it difficult to commit to an apprentice or trainee for the full term of the apprenticeship. Myriad Group Training can place apprentices or trainees for short periods of time, and can also meet the needs of employers requiring extra staff during busy periods.

Myriad Group Training can provide employers with trainees and apprentices in a wide range of industries and trades. Trainees and apprentices can be employed on a full-time basis, part-time basis or they can be school based. We take care of all the employment matters including recruitment and selection, wages, workers compensation, superannuation and training. We visit you and your apprentice or trainee every month in the workplace to ensure everything is running smoothly. We regularly assess your satisfaction, and provide appropriate support for your business.

The benefits to your business include:

  • Apprentices and trainees are carefully selected by experienced Industry Consultants
  • Reduced administration and paperwork
  • There is no long term commitment to host apprentices or trainees, as Myriad Group Training can place apprentices or trainees for short periods of time
  • On-call support for monitoring, counselling and assessing
  • Ability to replace unsuitable apprentices or trainees if necessary.

Information for Apprentices/Trainees

Once employed by Myriad Group Training, a training contract is signed by Myriad Group Training and the apprentice/trainee. The term of the contract varies depending on the apprenticeship/traineeship you choose. It also depends on whether you have any past experience through training or work experience.
Generally an apprenticeship is approximately 4 years and a traineeship is 12 months.
Apprenticeships and traineeships have a probation period of 3 months – this gives both you and Myriad Group Training time to make sure you both wish to proceed.

While Myriad Group Training would be your employer, you will be hosted out and trained by our “Host Employers”.
Myriad Group Training can place you in any particular industry you hold an interest and in which you would like to obtain an Apprenticeship. Some of the more popular industries include: Automotive; Carpentry; Cabinet Making; Electrical; Fitness; Plumbing; Office Administration; Horticulture; Retail; IT; Hospitality; Tourism; Legal; Painting and Decorating. There are many other industries available, and Myriad Group Training can assist you with any preference you have.

For example, if your interest is in the Tourism industry, you could be rotated amongst different areas in Tourism to give you broader knowledge of the Industry, and gain an idea as to the particular type of work you are most interested in. i.e.: Sales, Tour Guide, Consultant, Reservations, Attractions etc.
